TEXTUAL ANALYSIS – FILM
Watch the opening 20 minutes of a film
Pick out a key sequence or scene and make notes on the following:
Shot type / angle / movement / edits [cinematography]
Sound – diegetic and non-diegetic
Lighting – hard / soft / high key low key
Make-up / costume / acting / dialogue / sets / props [mise-en-scene]
Genre / sub-genre – what is it and how do we know?
